Rumpelstilzchen

My favorite fairy tale by the Grimm Brothers was the tale of rumplestiltzkin. The image of the angry little dwarf always used to make me laugh. It was quite scarey, when as a child, I thought all was doomed. But it had a happy ending!

My Mum used to read me the story, but as I got older I read it for myself. I had a ladybird reader book, with some lovely illustrations.

Rumpelstilzchen

Hi Sophie,

I also loved the illustrations of my Grimms' fairy tale book in my mind's eye. I loved it when the little dwarf danced and sang

"Heute back ich, morgen brau ich,
übermorgen hol ich der Königin ihr Kind;
ach, wie gut dass niemand weiß,
dass ich Rumpelstilzchen heiß!"

Well, that's the German version :)
Thanks for sharing your memories.

Rita
